Rye and Camber sands -beach just 90 mins from London

Rye - small town which used to be fortified by the sea now has the river of the same name flow through it - and it's just 2 or 4 miles away from the beach depending on which one you go to !
When you drive towards it on a late spring day from London you can see the town on a hill top with all the greenfield around it . And when you walk down the cobbled streets you reach the river which has lovely antique shops by the visitor centre and fish and chips and ice cream.
Winchelsea beach is 2 miles away .. It's not very sandy .. I like it however and it has a small cafe.
Camber sands is a proper sandy beach and on a sunny day is full of families with their buckets and spades ! You can hire windbreakers and deck chairs as well
Today we found folks flying kite !!

Not bad at all
for a 90 min drive from London.
